Greetings from Ukraine! This is a busy Bible school month. Diana just finished teaching twelve hours on Ethics and I will be teaching another twelve hours on Prayer.

SHINING THE LIGHT

Ethics is so very important to teach here in Ukraine. There is much temptation from society to compromise truth because of corruption in the government. Corruption negatively influences all aspects of life here in Ukraine. There is corruption in politics, business, the medical field, religion, judicial systems and even education. Students are expected to pay bribes to receive passing grades or even be admitted into special higher education programs where they can earn a higher degree. The Christian stands alone when he refuses to submit to this corruption.

Judges make determinations based upon the amount of the bribe offered. The government taxes businesses 70% which causes even honest businessmen to pay employees under the table and under report income. There is a mentality here which says, “Everybody else is doing it, and besides, I don’t get paid what I am worth anyway!”

Even the hospitals and orphanages are subject to corruption. Doctors will sell donated medicines and supplies and pocket the money and orphanage directors have been known to steal clothes and gifts donated for the orphans for their own children or to sell for profit.

It is quite sad! But we will not give in to this mentality. Both Jesus and Paul lived during a time of high taxation by Rome and neither of them compromised their ethics. This teaching must be presented to students who will be the next generation of pastors, lawyers, doctors, businessmen and women. The godly standard must be set and kept by believers to show the people who are trapped in the world’s system that the Kingdom of God is the highest and best way.

The kingdom of God has a whole different system of operating. It is not lying, stealing, cheating or giving exaggerations and half-truths. Rather, it is a system of light, love, faith, truth, and giving. We are so glad we have the opportunity to impart these truths into the people here in this nation.

APARTMENT 94

We are preparing for the missionary teams that will be coming in the next few months. The ministry has been able to secure an additional apartment that is more cost effective for the missionaries than the local hotels. It is in our same building so we are able to host the teams more efficiently than in the past.

The ministry is furnishing this apartment with beds, microwave, dishes, television, cookware, water heater and other essentials to make the missionary teams comfortable as they minister in Ukraine.

LIVING LONG AND STRONG!

Diana turned 50 in February! This milestone does not come but once in a lifetime. Diana has been celebrating all month it seems. She had a birthday celebration in the States with family and friends and then her Ukrainian family celebrated her special day with flowers, candy, gifts and many hugs, kisses and kind words of blessing. Psalm 91:16, says “With long life I will satisfy thee and show thee my salvation”. And we say Amen!

We appreciate your love for us. We are thankful for your prayerful and financial support of our missionary work. God has joined us together to reach the nation of Ukraine. We say thank you with a grateful heart for your sacrificial giving.
